The Western Team is coached by Sarah Mattocks, and competes in western horsemanship, ranch riding, and reining while putting an emphasis on riding position and ability.
Sarah Mattocks is the western coach for the IHSA Equestrian Team club at K-State. Sarah started riding at a young age and has always had a love for horses and helping others. Sarah grew up in a small town in southeast Kansas where she started barrel racing, competing in horse judging contests, and showing quarter horses. Growing up, she was an active member of FFA and 4-H. Sarah became a wildcat in 2004 and was a member of the Kansas State University equestrian team from 2004-2008. In 2006, Sarah placed first in her western horsemanship division at IHSA Nationals. She now resides in Manhattan with her husband and two children.
